ATD 2018: A Conference for the Books
This week, the Litmos team jet-setted to sunny San Diego for the 75th annual ATD International Conference and Exposition. This conference is the largest event for talent development professionals worldwide and Litmos was beyond excited to a Platinum sponsor.
While there were a multitude of interesting and exciting moments (see: Barack Obama’s keynote), we recapped our top three Litmos highlights from the conference.
Goodbye Buzzwords, Hello Mike Martin
If you’ve ever had the privilege of seeing our Chief Learning Officer, Mike Martin, speak you’ll know how dynamic and thought provoking he can be. He effortlessly captured the attention of the audience with an energized, engaging and informative session on how you can move your L&D function beyond buzzwords and shift your focus to the realities of modern learning.
At the end of the session, Mike provided attendees with a “Buzzword Bingo” card. If they heard one of the buzzwords on the card during the conference, they were encouraged to cross mark their word with the hopes of getting a bingo. If they got lucky, they were given an extra spin on the Litmos slot machine! (More on that later).
Sad you couldn’t attend the session? We have good news for you. Before the conference, Mike hosted a webinar on the same subject. Check out the recording of “The Down and Dirty Realities of Modern Learning: Beyond Buzzwords,” here.
The Booth, the Whole Booth, and Nothing But the Booth
This week we learned an important lesson: it is possible to drink too much coffee. Booth #1901 was an unstoppable force of energy at the conference thanks to a combination of a gourmet coffee bar and our incredible Litmos team members. The team gave countless demos, participated in insightful conversations, and connected with a variety of conference goers over the course of three days. Oh, and did we mention the slot machine?
Our booth totted an interactive slot machine where visitors were able to spin to win a variety of prizes ranging from gift cards to Apple watches. One person even won a $1,000 VISA gift card! Thank you to everyone who came by the booth to make this year’s ATD conference the best yet!
Oh What a (Networking) Night!
For the third consecutive year, the Litmos team was proud to sponsor Networking Night, located aboard the USS Midway. Whether he was lit up in a Lego wall or being displayed on the side of the ship, Lenny was the highlight of the event!
The night kicked off with a VIP gathering in the Litmos Lounge, where customers and Litmos employees were able to mix and mingle outside of the conference walls. The group was also given a private tour of the USS Midway, which was equal parts informative and funny thanks to our charismatic tour guide, Jim.
The evening also included a wide variety of delicious food, festive drinks, and of course dancing! The live band, The Mighty Untouchables, kept the energy afloat (pun intended) throughout the night singing classic and new hit songs. Is anyone else still sore from getting down on the dance floor? We know we are!
It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See You Next Year
To say the least, the ATD International Conference and Exposition was an incredible event, we won’t soon forget. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, attended Mike Martin’s sessions, or danced the night away at Networking Night!
