Creating Value Through Diversity and Inclusion – Understanding Unconscious Bias
Our brains are hardwired to filter certain things, because the number of choices we face every day would be overwhelming if we had to consciously evaluate every single one. So we create categories and make assumptions. But those assumptions can lead to faulty decisions and inadvertently exclude people in the workplace. This course is the second of three courses about workplace diversity and inclusion. It focuses on the concept of ‘unconscious bias’. Designed for leaders, the series provides an understanding of the characteristics of an inclusive workplace, awareness of how and why unconscious bias occurs and practical strategies for tackling it.
