Modern Information Systems (Part 1 of 2): IT Infrastructure
This course, led by technology writer and consultant Roger Grannis, demystifies modern information systems for business professionals by clarifying the inner workings typically hidden within complex technologies. Participants will gain foundational knowledge to identify issues, pose meaningful questions, and confidently navigate IT-related challenges. The curriculum emphasizes understanding the economics of computing and communications, which underpins critical business applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) for managing orders, inventory, and workflows, banking systems for overseeing deposits, loans, and credits, and supply chain solutions linking organizational ERP systems. Part 1 introduces the Information Framework and covers the first three of seven key models that describe essential business functions and processes within an organization.
