Hierarchy of Controls – Substitution (Toolbox talks) (AU)
The best way to deal with health and safety risks is to eliminate them. When this isn’t possible, the next best option is to substitute the hazard with something safer.
This course is an introduction to “substitution” in the hierarchy of controls. It uses examples to demonstrate how risks can be reduced in the workplace when hazardous objects or processes are replaced with safer options. It is part of the Toolbox Talks series that aims to raise awareness of some of the safety processes that exist in the workplace and clarify commonly used terms for the everyday worker.
