The safe use of flexible cords is one of the most frequently violated electrical standards. There is a definite need and place for cords, but there is also a temptation to misuse them because they seem to offer a quick and easy way to carry electricity to where it is needed. Power and extension cords are great, yet they can be dangerous. Defective or damaged electrical cords are a big danger, and kill people every year.
